Excerpted from AOL Chat with Julianne Nicholson
On February 17, 2000, TV Guide on AOL presented a chat with actress Julianne Nicholson. Julianne answered questions about her new show, "The Others."

TV Guide Online: Tonight we are chatting with Julianne Nicholson from the new TV series "The Others." Welcome Julianne! Thanks for coming!

Julianne Nicholson: Hello everyone out there. Thanks for reading. This is very strange. I've never done anything like this before.

Question: How would you describe the show?

Julianne Nicholson: A lot of people have been comparing it to "The Sixth Sense" and "Stir of Echoes". I agree with that. "Stir of Echoes" particularly. It didn't get as much hype but there was group that was similar to the others where people met and discussed their experiences. I felt it was more similar to the others where it's a family first and paranormal second. I think people can relate to it a bit more.

Question: Do you and the rest of the cast have a good working relationship/friendship?

Julianne Nicholson: Yes. I love the cast so much. All of them. You can tell by watching the show that we're all very different from each other. Each one of them offers something completely different. They're all hilarious and generous and giving. I can't say enough good things. That's totally boring, but the truth. It's been great.

Question: Who have you connected with most on set?

Julianne Nicholson: I mostly spend time with Gabriel Macht. I see him quite a bit off the set. Sat. for the second episode, we went to Melissa's house to watch the show. It's nice to be with the people you work with when you get to view the final project.

Question: What was it like having Bill Condon direct?

Julianne Nicholson: He is wonderful. I wish that I had more to do in that episode. I only had a few scenes. Each episode features a different member of the cast. He was calm and quiet and came in knowing what he wanted to do. He communicated that and it's heartbreaking and uplifting. Not a lot of special effects. It's much more about this couple and their love.

Question: Are there any ongoing storylines planned for the show yet?

Julianne Nicholson: We find out the next episode three days before shooting. It seems they've been trying to set up this sort of flirtation between Marion and Mark. I don't know where that is going to go. That seems to be the only constant. We start the first day of our 13th episode tomorrow. That one is going to be a doozy. I don't know how they're going to do it.

Question: What do you like to do for fun?

Julianne Nicholson: I haven't had much time off the last couple of months, but my boyfriend and I have a house in California and we've been working on that. We put a pool and we're figuring out what plants go where. I also love to read.

Question: Do you have a favorite episode so far?

Julianne Nicholson: Yes. They just finished filming today. I'm not in it much, but there is sort of a sad clown/mime. It's very eerie. I just like it. I think it's fantastic. From reading it I knew it was my favorite. It's called "$4.95 a Minute".
